The scarf design is inspired by and named after the Inca ruins of Tipón, which are located outside of Cusco in Peru, South America.

The Tipón scarf is long and cozy, and includes two lace patterns: one that creates the ruffles on each end and another for the long body of the scarf.  Once you master the basic Inca Trail Lace knitting pattern for the body, the knitting is downright meditative.  Both lace patterns are charted.  One-size-fits-all.

Tipón is knit on US size 9 needles (5.5mm), and is shown here knit up in alpaca yarn.
